On Monday, the New York Mets named former Durham Bull Mickey Callaway their new manager. He had served as pitching coach for the Cleveland Indians since 2014.

Callaway is the Bulls’ Triple-A franchise leader in wins, compiling a 34–17 record across parts of four different seasons in the Bull City. The Tennessee native joined the Bulls midway through the 1998 season, and split 1998 through 2001 between Double-A Orlando, Durham and Tampa Bay.

Callaway’s Career with Durham
1998: 5–3, 4.53 ERA in 9 G, 8 GS
1999: 7–1, 4.20 ERA in 15 GS
2000: 11–6, 5.29 ERA in 26 G, 20 GS
2001: 11–7, 3.07 ERA in 29 G, 21 GS

The right-hander becomes the second former Bull (Triple-A era) to become a Major League manager (joining the Rays’ Kevin Cash), and joins Brian Snitker of the Atlanta Braves as active Major League managers who have worn the Durham Bulls uniform.
