On Sunday, July 9, Marvin Wheeler passed away just shy of his 89th birthday. He was a US Navy veteran, a church-goer and much more. But many people will most likely remember Mr. Wheeler as one of the Durham Bulls’ biggest fans.

Marvin, along with his wife Bobbie, have been season ticket holders with the Bulls for over 35 years, seeing approximately 2,500 games in that time. The pair were fixtures at the DBAP, sitting in their seats behind home plate, arriving just as gates opened to ensure they didn’t miss a moment at the DBAP.

Marvin’s funeral was Wednesday, with numerous Bulls staff in attendance, ranging from front office members to seating bowl hosts to ticket takers.

The Durham Bulls pass along their condolences to Bobbie, and when the Bulls return to action at the DBAP, they’ll do so knowing one of their biggest fans is no longer watching the team, but now watching over the team.
