Earlier this week, we unveiled on Twitter the newest renderings for the Miracle League facility that will be located across the street from the DBAP.

As you can see from the photos, the field and facility bear a resemblance to the DBAP and the DAP in a couple of different ways. There’s a ‘Blue Monster’ in left field, while the center field entrance mimics that of the ticket window at Durham Athletic Park.

The renderings of the facility — which is scheduled to open in 2018 — have come quite a long way since the initial announcement back in May, when at the time only the location had been selected. Since that announcement, the vision for the field has become clearer, while the project continues to gain support from others in the Triangle.

The Miracle League program and field are specifically designed to serve children and adults with special needs through the game of baseball. The program removes the barriers that keep children and adults with mental and physical disabilities off the baseball field, and lets them experience the joy of America’s pastime.
