This past weekend, Netflix unveiled “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life,” a four-part mini-series to follow up the long-running show that aired from 2000–2007. What most people may (but most likely do not) know, is that Scott Patterson (who plays Luke Danes) has a strong connection to the Durham Bulls: he played for them.

Prior to his acting career, Patterson played Minor League Baseball for seven seasons as a pitcher from 1980–1986. It was in 1981 he started 13 games for the Bulls, going 9–0 with a 2.11 ERA with five complete games (so he was pretty good.) He ended up reaching Triple-A, before turning to acting.

So as you’re watching, or re-watching (or re-watching for the seventh time), just remember that the guy who runs a diner was once a stud for the Bulls. Mind. Blown.

(Thanks to the Ottawa Champions for the heads up.)
