Sharan Hildebrand has always lived by her mantra, “everything happens for a reason.” From her involvement in philanthropy to her long-standing career in sales, our inspirational SVP of Sales tells us just how she plans to unite the two worlds for us here at Capax Global.

How did you get involved in philanthropy?

Growing up Sharan always looked up to her mother, leading by example and going out of her way to serve others and give back.

“She would remind us just how important it was to give. That was just one of the many gifts she gave me growing up. Throughout the years, I’ve just found volunteer work to be incredibly soul-feeding for me.”

This love for volunteer work growing up has since translated into her professional career, as Sharan has been involved in Women in Technology (WIT), International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners (IAMCP), American Cancer Society (ACS), American Lung Association (ALA), and other organizations.

Tell us about how Capax Serves got started?

This answer, of course, was simple: Everything happens for a reason.

“Jerry (CEO of Capax Global) and Jessica (COO) have always known that giving back was in my DNA. When they saw how passionate I was about WIT and IAMCP, they realized that there are others at our company that also have causes near and dear to their hearts. With Capax Serves, we now have a place to raise awareness for the causes we care about, as a team.”

Capax Serves has recently announced the first of many internal quarterly fundraising challenges. It will give our employees a platform to raise awareness and fundraise for the organization of their choice — “Doing good while doing well.”

As the winning prize, the employee with the most significant amount fundraised would get a $2,500 donation from Capax Global.

Tell us about the Capax Serves kick-off and a little about the charities competing for the prize!

“I had announced Capax Serves on our All-Hands meeting this past summer. We kicked it off by asking everyone at Capax to submit the charity of their choice along with some backstory on their personal relationship with them. I was absolutely overwhelmed by the response!”

The nominations received contained great personal stories about their chosen organization and why it should be chosen. Environmental, health and educational charities are just a few of the causes that are important to us here at Capax. The team is thrilled about the opportunity to raise awareness on these causes not only within the company, but the industry as well.

“Receiving the nominations and selecting the winners from a hat was a great thrill. The entire company is totally behind the three charities selected and are already committing their support.”

These winners are Chuck Tichenor for Eden Autism Services, John Young for Friends of Jacobus Park, and Jerry Head for Lifetime Assistance.

Chuck, John and Jerry have already been hard at work campaigning for their charities, driving attendance to 5k runs and barbecues for support.

What do you see in the future for Capax Serves?

“A few years down the line, I really see Capax Serves becoming a foundation. I’d love to see this turn into a program, governed by an internal committee that supports new programs. This way, it gives both our customers and employees an opportunity to give back.”

Sharan was recently inspired during the launch of a machine learning project for a customer in the medical equipment manufacturing industry.

“Although we were talking about an IoT project, I began to connect what this company was looking to design with how it could help people in disadvantaged communities. Eventually, I saw that we could really solve a global health issue here.”

She immediately thought: Not only can we use Capax Serves to provide our employees with a platform to give back to causes that matter to them, but we can empower our customers to make a significant impact on the issues that they want to solve.

“It’s all in development right now, but it is truly something I see as the future of Capax Serves. It would be great to become brokers and help get our clients secure funding and research they need by connecting Capax Serves to organizations like the World Health Organization. Everybody wins — we’re doing good in the world, helping our clients, and it’s good for business. It really is possible to do it all.”

Sharan, we can’t wait to see all that Capax Serves will become!
