This has been a heads down winter for the Hitlist team as we finished up a few partner integrations, which have increased our revenue per user 3x since December and potentially a lot more as they continue to roll out.

This month’s focus is growth. This month’s ask: does anyone know a tool that makes it easy to identify your ‘influencers’ from their email address? We have over 700k profiles in our database and want to be able to identify those that have a lot of followers on social media to see if we can get them to help amplify our message. We’re investigating FullContact but wondering if there are simpler plug and play solutions out there.

Updates:

  • we shipped v4.1, which changes up a lot of our standard UX in hopes of increasing time in app, please check it out and let us know what you think.
  • Integrations with Janbala (a great new OTA based in San Francisco backed by China’s HNA group) and Hotels.com are now live.
  • the team got Amazon Echo dots as an end-of-year bonus; so far none of us have been able to find anything inspirational or useful to do with them. Any tips? If you could ask Alexa for help with travel, what would you ask?
  • We joined a coalition of companies/groups to encourage people to travel this year: take the pledge yourself at ExploreMore2017.com. We also had a great launch party for the campaign at the offices of London’s Traveltech Lab. We’re looking at staging similar events in other cities based on this playbook — please let me know if you’d be interested in co-hosting.
  • For our semiannual team meeting we based ourselves at Roam’s new live/work space in London, which we recommend highly for offsites — use code NOMADSROAM if you’d like $100 off a week+ at any of their properties (London, Miami, Bali, Tokyo).

Upcoming:

  • I’m in Mexico City through this Tuesday evening for meetings with partners down here, anyone I should meet?
  • I’ll be speaking at the Women’s Travel Fest in New Orleans March 4th alongside people like Pauline Frommer, President of the eponymous travel guide company, and Cassie de Pecole, the youngest woman to travel to every country in the world. All genders welcome, buy tickets here with code ‘Hitlist’ for 20% off.

Why we’re doing this:

We’ve been dismayed by the new President’s discriminatory travel bans, which we believe are illegal and incompatible with our values. Our way of combating the ignorance and insularity that have gotten us here: build a better product that gets people to travel more.

Gif of the month: wishing you all many upvotes this Valentine’s Day.
