(sent August 9, 2017) Four years ago, we started sketching out what would become Hitlist. We’ve been around long enough to see competitors arrive, raise millions, and disappear. In the meantime, we’ve doubled in size every year, and look set to triple this year at current rates - something we plan to do for years to come.

This month’s focus is growth. We released an update to our popular Chrome extension, Wandertab. Please check it out on Product Hunt here and help us spread the word if you like what you see!

UPDATES

  • Hitlist is coming back to Android, eta early October. Thanks to many of you who provided feedback as we figured out how to build well for Android. I've compiled a few lessons learned through interviewing 18 prospective Android devs/teams I thought might be useful to anyone going down a similar path:
  • Developing in React Native vs. Java (TL;DR: if you're building an MVP, an internal app, or something with very basic functionality, go for React, for something you wish to scale to millions go with Java).
  • How much should an Android port cost? (TL;DR: you can get it done for anywhere between $1850-$130,000, what's right will depend on your particular situation).
  • Shipped two new builds since our last update with support for multiple passengers, redesigned profile and Hitlist page, and various bug fixes, can try out the latest version here.
  • Fun aside: the Wandertab update is the first things we’ve built with Andrew Nater, who we met after he wrote a Medium piece titled ‘I love Hitlist - but their website let me down.’ In other words, if you have thoughtful feedback about our product, there’s a good chance we’ll hire you :)
  • More tangentially, the New York Times wrote a piece on South Park Commons, the workplace that Hitlist proudly calls home, and I published a piece on the sexual harassment scandals that have been sweeping through Silicon Valley this summer.
