Say Hello to Hyder Alabed
The newest member of our investing team
I’m very proud to introduce Hyder Alabed, as the first and newest member of our investing team. Hyder’s passion and energy for finding and supporting founders on their journey is infectious.
Hyder became fascinated with technology and entrepreneurship from a young age. During the nineties when the tech industry was experiencing a period of rapid growth, Hyder’s father joined Ciena, a budding startup in the telecommunications field. The company went on to make history when it became the largest IPO by a startup ever in 1997. Hyder had a front row seat to Ciena’s journey from early stage business to IPO and credits his initial passion for startups to his memories of his father’s work.
Previously, Hyder was a part of the team at the Disney Accelerator, the venture investing arm of The Walt Disney Company. As an analyst on the team, Hyder focused on identifying unique startups that represent the future of media & entertainment. He spent the last three months supporting the companies in the Disney Accelerator’s 2017 cohort. Prior to the Disney Accelerator, Hyder worked on an internal strategic consulting team for The Walt Disney Company. Through the use of data analytics and statistical modeling, Hyder was responsible for advising management across all business units including Parks and Resorts, Media Networks, Studio Entertainment, and Disney Interactive Media.
He has also participated in Techstars Startup Weekend and helped make Product Hunt’s book: How to Build a Career in Tech. Hyder is a proud Seminole, graduating from Florida State University with a dual degree in Statistics and Applied Economics.
