Hive61 Event Recap — Edition #43, Blockchain (5th Birthday)

On November 20th, 2018, we hosted the fifth birthday edition of our Hive61 business and startup meetups in Poznań. This time, we structured the meetup around the topic of blockchain technology.

The event was a huge success, with fascinating presentations covering all aspects of blockchain technology, plenty of interesting people, and delicious, Hive61-themed cupcakes from our friends at Wściekłe Ciastka.

So, to help you relive this wonderful meetup (or see what you missed, in case you couldn’t make it), we thought we’d recap some of the event’s highlights.

The Presentations

It’s difficult to host a great event without knowledgeable speakers, but the Hive61 team really hit the mark with finding a range of engaging speakers all using blockchain in their own unique ways…

Ula Lachowicz, Neufund

Our first speaker was Ula Lachowicz from Neufund. She showed us the Neufund approach to tokenizing anything on the Ethereum network — especially company shares.

This presentation was an exciting insight into an obscure industry known as “regtech”, a bridge between innovative technology regulatory practicality.

Jacek Kubiak, I Love Crypto

Personally, I was a huge fan of our second presentation, which was delivered by Jacek Kubiak, editor of I Love Crypto. He took us through a journey of the different use cases of blockchain, giving examples of new and exciting projects all along the way.

Adriana Dzienis, GamerHash

Our third presentation featured a representative from our sponsor GamerHash. It was Adriana Dzienis who told us all about their platform for maximizing cryptocurrency mining profits on gaming computers.

Thank you for sponsoring our event, and we hope you’ve signed up a few new users from the audience!

Hubert Matecki, TAXO

For a different perspective on the blockchain world, Hubert Matecki gave us a deep dive into the pros and cons of registering an ICO in various European countries. Is it Malta, Switzerland, or somewhere else you should choose?

Bartłomiej Sitek & Michał Stryjewski, Chainers Group

Our final pair of speakers included Bartłomiej Sitek (left) and Michał Stryjewski (right). I think this presentation might have been my favourite: as a change to the day’s other topics, Bartłomiej and Michał explained their solution to making cryptocurrency mining profitable — with solar energy and heat recyclers.

The People

Needless to say, we had a lovely audience and plenty of enthusiastic freelancers, entrepreneurs, and crypto addicts to talk to.

Since everyone was enjoying the networking session, we decided to move to another venue as Plus Jeden closed their doors for the night. There, with a few beers to hand, we carried on our discussions about crypto, blockchain, and more.

The Cupcakes

Oh, and before I forget: we had a delicious selection of vanilla and chocolate cupcakes, baked and decorated to order, to complement the networking session:

That’s it for this Hive61 recap. If you enjoyed this event (or you liked the look of it), you’re welcome to join us at the next edition of Hive61 in January 2019.

We’ll post the topic, speakers list, and other event details on our Facebook page, so be sure to follow us there!
