1922 is a film adaptation of the novella by Stephen King. The novella was published in 2010. The film is a Netflix original. It was released by Netflix on October 20, 2017, and has had incredible reviews ever since. The movie won Best Casting of a Motion Picture at the Fright Meter Awards and was nominated for Best Actor and Best Motion Picture for the Leo Awards.

The movie begins with Wilfred James writing a letter pleading guilty to the murdering of his wife. the story of the James family in Hemingford Home, Nebraska. Wilfred James lives on a farm with his son Henry James and his wife Arlette James. The farm was a given inheritance from Arlette’s father, who had recently passed away, but it was really Wilfred’s pride and joy. Arlette actually dreamed of moving to Omaha, where she could open a dress shop.

Wilfred could not stand the idea of losing the farm and moving to the city, but Arlette had all of the deciding power on what happened to the land. Henry also did not want to move to the city. So, the two James men decide to take matters into their own hands, and kill Arlette James.

It seemed like a foolproof plan at the time. However, as time goes on, Wilfred begins to realize that his idea had flaws, and now he had to work his way out of the potential legal trouble, and the hauntings that come with his new reality.

1922 is a little bit different from some of King’s other work, and the film in particular is more artsy. It is a somewhat quiet film as well. However, I found it incredibly enjoyable, and a good horror tale. If mental hauntings, rats, and death spook you, then this film is for you!
