Ocean’s 8, is a film following the story of Danny Ocean from Ocean’s 11 and Ocean’s 12. However, Ocean’s 8 is about Danny’s sister Debbie Ocean, played by Sandra Bullock. This comedy was directed by Gary Ross and is full of the classic Ocean’s story drama, humor, and twisty ending, but this time the crime squad is all female.

Debbie Ocean has recently been released from prison, where she was kept for a theft crime. She convinces everyone that she is ready to move on from her past and be better now. However, she actually has different plans.

Ocean approaches her old friend Lou, played by Cate Blanchett, about a new heist scheme. Ocean wants to steal a $150 million from a celebrity named Daphne Clougar, played by Anne Hathaway, while at a museum gala celebration. Lou is reluctant at first but is soon convinced by Ocean’s witty manipulation.

Ocean is also dealing with the drama of a previous relationship. Claude Becker, played by Richard Armitage, may have had something to do with Ocean’s previous incarceration. Potentially, he may also be one of the motives behind her next heist.

Bullock, Blanchett, and Hathaway are joined by an incredible, star-studded cast. The rest of the cast includes Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, and Rihanna. Each actor has a unique character, that they all play so well. Each character brings a different sense of humor to the table, but each compliment each other perfectly.

This film will have you laughing from the moment it starts, to the very end. The plotline is wonderfully written and keeps the audience enticed. It also has the classic Ocean’s plot-twists we all know and love. I know there was debate about how well an Ocean’s movie would be received with a female heist team, but I thought this was an awesome move. The cast was fun to watch and kept me entertained the whole time.
