The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is a film directed by Joe Johnston and Lasse Hallstrom. It is a film adaptation of the classic ballet. It stretches the regular story, to one with more depth, and is perfect for to bring on the holiday spirit.

Clara, who is played by Mackenzie Foy, is facing her first Christmas without her mother. Her father, played by Matthew Macfadyen, gives her a gift that her mother left for her to open on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, the gift is unopenable.

At a Christmas Eve party, Clara goes to her godfather, played by Morgan Freeman, to see if he knows how to open the gift. The godfather gives her the key but sends her into another realm to retrieve it. He says that it was her mother’s “dying wish” for her to be sent to the realm.

Once in the other realm, Clara discovers that the new, interesting people she encounters are in danger. They all knew her mother, and are devastated at the news that she has passed away. They believe that Clara is now the only one who can save them from the dangers they are facing.

I loved this movie. It was a perfect modern take on the classic story, with a few fun twists. It played all of the music from the ballet and featured some of the dances. The visuals were incredible, and the acting was wonderful to watch. The film has a star-studded cast, and they interpret their characters very impressively.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is the perfect movie to kick off this holiday season. I would highly suggest it for those who love the ballet, the original story, or even those who are unfamiliar with either. It is a movie that would be fun for the whole family.
