September 21, 2021 (SAN FRANCISCO, CA) — San Francisco-based HMD Labs, a provider of next-generation cloud data platforms that accelerates the digital transformation of medical devices across the healthcare industry, announced today that Josh DeFonzo, CEO and Director of Lux Health Tech Acquisition Corp., will join HMD Labs co-founders Kevin Derr and Brian Greene on the Board of Directors. HMD Labs partners with medical device startups and provides a comprehensive and cost-effective data architecture platform, that can be tailored to specific needs. Medical devices approved by the FDA have increased by 28 percent between 2019 and 2020. This growth is expected to continue with the global market for intelligent medical devices projected to reach $612.7 billion by the end of 2021.

At the helm of Lux Health Tech Acquisition Corp, DeFonzo leads the $345 million Special Purpose Acquisition Corporation, focusing on generational companies innovating at the intersection of healthcare and technology.
