As the pandemic brings our plates and pantries to the forefront of a global discussion, technology is shaping more of what and how we eat. In the first half of the year, food tech companies raised over $8bn. After a year of operating in beta, HNGRY is launching a premium subscription media service for food and technology insiders called HNGRY Trends.

For $200/yr or $20/mo, subscribers will gain access to a platform of weekly deep dives, digests, and bi-monthly reports into trends like ghost kitchens, grocery delivery, personalized nutrition, alternative proteins and much more. HNGRY has broken scoops on everyone from giants like Amazon, CloudKitchens and DoorDash to early-stage startups, quickly gaining recognition amongst outlets like The Washington Post, Financial Times, LA Times, Forbes, and The New Yorker.

Behind it all is yours truly- an analyst, entrepreneur, and investigative reporter. As a former technology product manager, I’m leveraging my relentless curiosity, business background, and tech savvy to uncover key information that will determine how the food tech revolution will unfold. I am passionate about food and how it relates not only to our health, but also the environment, our culture, and each other.

I believe that food is the final industry to be impacted by the fourth industrial revolution. HNGRY’s mission is to thoroughly analyze technological innovations underpinning the largest shifts in consumer eating behaviors in written, video, and audio form.

HNGRY Trends covers technology at the forefront of the food tech revolution ranging from last-mile grocery delivery (left) to personalized health services (right).

In addition to its archive of 45 in-depth articles and interviews, HNGRY will provide subscribers with exclusive access to new episodes of its branded video series. I have partnered with a team of documentary filmmakers to give audiences a firsthand look into the bleeding edge of ghost kitchens, fungi-based proteins, personalized nutrition and THC-infused beverages. HNGRY will also provide members with opportunities like bi-weekly Hangouts to connect with one another and discuss the diverse sub-verticals of the food industry. I have also recently begun a free podcast series called The Feed, focused on global food innovation.

Executives from leading venture capital, indoor agriculture, and food delivery companies have increasingly relied on HNGRY to stay ahead of major industry trends. “HNGRY is the only publication I recommend when people ask me what to read on Food-Tech,” says Bowery Farming Chief of Staff, Leland Chamlin. “Matt’s analysis and on the ground research truly stand alone, and I often use HNGRY as a barometer for what to pay attention to in the space.”

Thank you to the team and wonderful community at Medium that has been an early champion of my work.

As chef Emeril Lagasse once said, “let’s kick it up a notch!”
