Who Did This?
Plasma Dog was created by Hoard as a proof-of-concept of our free & open source Software Development Kit which is set for release in Q2 2019. The SDK will allow any game developer to seamlessly integrate Ethereum and Plasma into their games without having prior blockchain knowledge. The goal is to produce games where players have True Ownership over their in-game assets.
The More Viable Plasma network was developed by OmiseGO โ tested and in collaboration with Hoard. MoreVP is a scalability solution designed to process a high level of transaction throughput on the Ethereum mainnet without compromising security. This particular implementation of MoreVP is now live on the Ethereum Rinkeby testnet. It is the first Plasma dapp deployment on a public Ethereum network to date.
From MVP to MoreVP
Plasma Dog originally debuted at DevCon 4 as the first application to run on OmiseGOโs OMG Network. At the time, it was running on an internal Plasma MVP testnet โ both the root chain and the child chain were privately managed by OmiseGO and publicly accessible to players of Plasma Dog.
Plasma is a framework. It consists of a child chain and a root chain. The child chain is where transactions are processed. The parent chain is where transactions are secured. A plasma network is only as secure as its root chain.
The biggest difference between this deployment and the one from DevCon is that this network is now secured by the Ethereum Rinkeby Testnet. This is a major milestone for all of Plasma research and Ethereum scalability, because it means that for the first time all assets on a Plasma child chain are interoperable with the rest of the Ethereum ecosystem using Rinkeby.
Interoperability and True Ownership
More Viable Plasma ensures massive scalability. And because it is now rooted in a public Ethereum network, players of Plasma Dog can now experience the benefits of both true ownership and interoperability. ETHDenver attendees, in particular, get to enjoy a very unique experience!
To celebrate ETHDenver and the launch of MoreVP, weโve introduced a limited edition Bufficorn Skin just for the hackathon. Attendees have been airdropped a non-fungible token to their Official ETHDenver Burner Wallet โ built by Austin Thomas Griffith in collaboration with Brian Ethier. The Burner Wallet, which attendees use to purchase food and merchandise throughout the weekend, runs on a POA Network Ethereum sidechain. Players authenticate their Plasma Dog session with their NFT-wielding Burner Wallet to unlock the playable Bufficorn skin.
