The Heart of a Flower
About flowers and hearts in images and quotes
I love macro photography, so much so that two years ago we bought a professional refurbished macro lens. Flowers are the one subject I love to capture in as minute detail as possible.
In this writing, I want to share some of those photos, but believe me, for every one I share here, there are at least ten failed images.
The header image shows an image I actually snapped with my mobile phone on one of my spring walks some years ago. There’s just something about that image that makes me smile every time I see it!
In joy or sadness, flowers are our constant friends.

The heart of flowers have always fascinated me. Back in biology class — long, long ago! — I learned about the pistil, the stamen and other parts you find inside a flower, but that’s not what I think of when I study a flower.
All I think about is how I can capture the essence of it.
In these images above, I didn’t get closer, or if I did, those images weren’t what I wanted them to be. Sometimes my settings are not correct, other times there’s a slight wind, or I move when pushing on the shutter… images can fail for a variety of reasons.
I never delete my photos. Even unsuccessful attempts can be beautiful, or at least offer valuable lessons.
In the hopes of reaching the moon, men fail to see the flowers that blossom at their feet.
