Is it Too Early for Christmas Crafts?
My partner’s daughter and I think otherwise
Have you ever felt your inner child cheering you on, jumping up and down with excitement and giggles while doing an activity you really enjoy? Beyond the flow, the sensory stimulation, the dopamine release, and the nostalgia of childhood memories—have you felt that dormant playfulness and innocence really come alive?
Crafting has that effect on me; it makes me completely lose track of time and shuts down the part of my brain that worries about everything under the sun. Since crafting and Christmas decorations go so well together, I couldn’t help but buy some winter holiday goodies to play with—not alone, but with my partner’s daughter.
Two kits were bought (super cheap, packed with readily available materials): one for Christmas tree ornaments, with felt cut-outs, embroidery thread, sequins, ribbon, and fabric glue, and another with Christmas stockings and coloured fabric markers.
We both had a great time colouring our Christmas stockings with the pens. My partner’s daughter personalised hers beautifully, adding dots and other unique patterns and colours. She was the first to finish and move on to the second project (the ornaments), while I spent a long time adding depth and dimension to mine.
