Rome is big, crowded and touristy as a hell which i don’t like since its about a week before Christmas when i arrived there so its starting to get crowded, But this ancient city didn’t let me down. Rome has become a must visit European city in probably every tour guide book you could’ve ever find, and at first i didn’t put Rome on my city list but since i planned to fly to Malaga and the cheapest flight available is from Rome Fiumiccino so then after a wonderful 4 days in Florence i booked a fast train ticket from Firenze to Roma Termini and a 4 days 3 nights hostel a bit far from the city center.

If you’re a fan of walking you are lucky because the best way to enjoy this historical city is to walk , walk and walk take a metro from your nearest place of stay , and head towards the center and starts walking, because there is so much to see and to enjoy, take your time strolling along the streets of Rome while eating delicious Gelato under the bright day light.

Tourist Playing with the cat at Largo di Torre Argentina cat sanctuary

As i said , Rome is super Touristy so don’t spend all of your time just to binged all of the main touristy attraction in one whole day, take a few days and try to find your own point of interest of the city, because Rome is not all about the Colosseum ,Pantheon, and visiting the Holy City of Vatican although those places are a must visit place in Rome, but you should get away from the main tourist attraction and explore what other things Rome can offer . If you want to get away from the crowd , go further south across Ponte Sisto walk by the Rome suburbs towards the Rome Botanical garden, on a certain day you can see the art market at Piazza Trilusa where local artist sells their paintings, the suburbs is peace and quite so you get some relaxing time or perhaps enjoy aup of coffee by the veranda away from the crowds. You can even visit a Cat Sanctuary at Largo di Torre Argentina which is a Roman ruin that also been used as a cat conservatory by the local people of Rome.

Il Pastio di Roma and Gelatteria Del Teatro

Take a bottle of water that you can refill it later and make your own lunch before you start exploring the city because eating out is expensive in Rome especially if you’re a budget traveler , but if you do want to eat outside i recommend you to try Il Pastaio di Roma, its a small Pasta restaurant that serves the most delicious affordable al dente pasta for just only 5 euro for a portion of pasta of your choice with a free wifi and quick service. If you up for some gelatto, i recommend you to go to this Gelatteria called Gelateria del Teatro , it is hands down the most delicious , fresh and affordable gelatto you can get in Rome, you might thinks that the fancier the looks and the more expensive a Gelatto is, the more delicious it would be, and that is wrong!, you can enjoy delicious and fresh gelatto in Gelateria del Teatro without breaking your wallet and they offers various unique falvours too!.

In front of the Sacrario delle Bandiere
Piazza Navona in the Evening

End the day at Piazza Navona as street performers began to do their attraction and enjoy the night carnaval filled with game stalls and Merry-Go-Around as you sit by the fountain enjoying the sky turns dark as the lights of the city slowly glows.
