Beyond The Seen Hides The Unknown

A poem about the unseen.

Ever since I was 10 years old, I’ve been diving into the world of songwriting under the pseudonym Bella Diamond.

That pseudonym holds deep meaning.

I chose it when I was 10,

a time when I began feeling extremely insecure and self-conscious.

I wanted at least one part of me to embody beauty, so I chose the name Bella since it is known to mean “beautiful”.

And I selected “Diamond” because diamonds symbolize love, commitment, strength, purity and eternal beauty – qualities I wished to possess, especially strength.

After all, diamonds are the hardest minerals on Earth.

It’s been mostly about crafting long, flowing songs that fill up the entire sheet of A4 paper.

*Fun fact: I’ve also written songs that fill up two or more A4 sheets of paper.*

But a few days ago, it was a bit different.

As I sat on the terrace with my fiancé, soaking in the evening vibes,

I felt inspired to try something new – a short poem.

It’s a short and sweet break from my usual lengthy verses, capturing the simple beauty of the moment.

Beyond The Seen

The birds are singing ode to joy

Fixing what us humans aim to destroy

The pavement gray and the grass so green

Glad to see myriad of shades in between

Oh, what a life!

Sometimes on the edge of a knife

But I love it!

There’s so much beyond and above it

Something beyond what eyes can see

Something beyond the ordinary glee

I love to write and I write to love

I seek to find and I find what’s sought

Takeaway

This poem was a fun change of pace from my usual songwriting marathons.

It’s just a quick snapshot of life as it happens, really – a burst of thought that and feeling from one quiet evening.

I managed to catch those fleeting moments and feelings in just a few lines, and it felt just right.

Sometimes, it’s nice to let my inner poet step up for a bit!

So, here’s to finding beauty in everyday life, to chasing dreams, and to the endless journey of self-discovery and the world around us.

If it resonated with you, I’m all ears for your thoughts.

Sharing your thoughts and engaging with it would mean the world to me!
