It is said that the more color you have on your plate, the more nutrition you are getting from your meal. The reds, the yellows, the ‘greens’, the oranges — yes I said that, the purples, each color counts.

Nature is not something that just happened. It was carefully and meticulously created. It was created to provide us with everything we need — food, air, water and then some more.

On that note, I would like to share my favorite health documentaries with you all. Keep reading because I am going to be writing about what I liked best about each one in this article and why it is important that you watch them on priority.

1. Live to 100 — Secrets of the Blue Zones on Netflix

This documentary will take you by the hand in the homes of centenarians(A person who is 100 years old or older is called a centenarian. A person who is 110 years old or older is called a supercentenarian).

No doubt that they grew up in times of different stresses, less pollution but at the same time they also grew up in the age of less medical facility, less laziness and boredom. They were social and still try to remain so, nuture their hobbies even if for a couple of minutes a day and use their bodies to do their work. Physical exercise, nutritious food made from scratch — all of it matters. You will love this documentary which has been divided into parts of the world where people aged 100 or more are living in small colonies.

This talks about the landscapes that are one of the most important factors that contribute to their health along with consumption of the local and seasonal food produce.

2. Hack your health — The Secrets of Your Gut

This focuses on the gut health how our body processes the food and the environment we expose it to. It talks about how everything affects everything and nothing works in isolation. Very informative and a must watch.

3. What the Health

This documentary leans towards fast food, rising cases of diabities, the promotion of junk food by big international health organization and its impacts on generations to come and how we can take control by becoming informed and then sharing that information.

4. Rotten

Rotten — is about the corruption in the global food chain, the lack of standards followed while cleaning and processing the food that is ultimately sold and the plight of over-worked and underpaid employees working over time by stretching their hours.

It talks about adulteration of food and how we have forgotten that progress and quantity cannot be rushed. Quality takes time to form and greed is the worst form of crime.

I hope you love these documentaries as much as I did. If you do decide to watch any of these or all, like me- do share your thoughts here.

Until next time,

-R.
