Here’s what James Park, General Partner at Valhalla Capital, had to say about holoride:

Why did you invest in holoride?
In a world moving quickly toward automated vehicles, immersive VR/AR experiences, and new, disruptive play-to-earn gaming models, holoride sits at the perfect intersection of these trends with an all-star team.

Above all, we were very impressed with the team’s vision and industry expertise. We firmly believe that they are well-positioned to execute, having already showcased their award-winning product with leading auto manufacturers and industry giants.

Why does the market need holoride?
We believe that alongside the growth in metaverse and AR/VR, holoride’s play-to-earn model enables creators to flourish and also creates unprecedented value capture for users. The open economy encouraged by this gaming mechanic introduces novel retention models and a new degree of virality never before seen in the industry.

While interest in metaverses, VR/AR, and play-to-earn games are increasing, we believe the market needs a mainstream application that unites these elements and has the right partners to catapult adoption. Given holoride’s industry relationships, the company is well-poised to develop this market and propel in-car consumer entertainment into the next generation.

Why is now the right time?
We think that the industry has matured to the extent that people have grown much more comfortable with VR/AR and blockchain technologies. Now that many institutions have moved past their proof-of-concept stages, the time is right for next-gen entertainment products to come to the forefront.

holoride has created the best-in-class car entertainment experience and is incorporating some of the best blockchain, VR/AR, and gaming technologies and advancements over the past decade to create this unparalleled experience that will enable both creators and users to benefit from ecosystem growth.

About holoride

The German startup holoride creates an entirely new media category for passengers by connecting XR content with data points from the vehicle in real-time. These data points include physical feedback like acceleration and steering, traffic data, as well as travel route and time.

Open to all content creators and car companies, the technology has the power to change backseat entertainment forever; holoride technology significantly reduces motion sickness, opens up a new layer of immersion in games or educational journeys, and creates a stunningly immersive experience.

The tech startup was founded end of 2018 in Munich, Germany by Nils Wollny, Marcus Kuehne, Daniel Profendiner, and Audi, which holds a minority stake in the startup. It was hailed four times “Best of CES” (Las Vegas, Jan 2019) and has been acknowledged as “Best Inventions of 2019” by TIME Magazine. In 2021, holoride went on to win the prestigious SXSW Pitch and was also named Best in Show.
