We had a great session with TehMoonwalkeR and enjoyed answering questions that help the community to understand what holoride is and how we envision the future of in-car entertainment.

Enjoy reading the transcript and drop a comment if you’re interested in similar questions for upcoming AMAs.

Bobby: Hello Nils. Pleasure to have you here.
Nils Wollny: Great to be here!

Bobby: Are you ready?
Nils: Born ready!

Bobby: Hope you have made yourself comfortable. 🤠
Nils: Absolutely. Backset of an Audi e-tron!

Bobby: Let’s start with an introduction. Please introduce yourself to the moonwalkers. Tell us about your experience and work in the crypto field.
Nils: I am the CEO and co-founder of holoride. Myself and the other two co-founders all worked for Audi in digital business, immersive technologies, and autonomous driving development. I previously co-led one of Europe’s largest digital stock-listed agencies.

Bobby: Sounds like an interesting job.
Nils: Entered the crypto field last year to explore the potential for our platform that goes live next year. Dream job 🙂

Bobby: Welcome to crypto.
Nils: Thanks. 😉

Bobby: Let’s start with the questions. 😉 Tell us what holoride is and what you guys are trying to showcase. The community is eager to know.
Nils: holoride takes everyday journeys and transforms them into hyper-immersive experiences by combining route and car data with Extended Reality (XR).

We are creating a completely new content and media category: Elastic Content.

Our tech stack has the power to change backseat entertainment forever, can help reduce motion sickness, and opens a new layer of immersion in games, educational content, and many more use cases.

Bobby: This video looks surreal. 🔥🔥 Can you please tell us in depth about this tech?
Nils: Sure. We sync content with the motion and location of vehicles.

The vehicle provides different kinds of sensor inputs, which our localization software uses to calculate the current state of the vehicle — in real-time.

This means we have a precise position and pose of the vehicle in the world. We use this output information and map data to create a procedural generated world around the passenger/player in XR.

Videos help. 😉 However, you should try it in the car to fully understand it.

Bobby: Based on this video, you definitely need errorless GPS and sensor reading? How are you going to achieve this, any plans?
Nils: We work closely together with car manufacturers to get access to these data points via the central computing entity of the vehicle. The data is shared via Bluetooth or WiFi in the interior of the car.

Bobby: Great. 👍 Let’s talk about the team behind the project. How many members is the core team of Holoride made of? Please tell us something about your core team.
Nils: That’s the best part. 😉

We have gathered talent from mobility, media and tech.

Our team includes great talent that has previously worked for companies like BMW, Byton, NIO, Apple, and Amazon.

We’re really proud to have built a diverse and international team of holoriders, which includes 9 nationalities so far.

What we all have in common is a love of challenges and we have fun working together to achieve our vision.

We’re also proud of our 6 holodogs… though it can get a little crazy at lunchtimes! 🐶

Bobby: Who is the major audience of holoride? Is there any focus on non-crypto users, who don’t have any knowledge about NFTs and DeFi?
Nils: There is a B2B and B2C side to it.

B2B: Our ecosystem partners like car manufacturers, media companies, and device manufacturers.

Car manufacturers will be able to monetize driving time and add a substantial, long-term revenue stream from existing car data.

Entertainment and media companies as well as content producers will have the great opportunity to enter a completely untapped ecosystem and market.

Headset manufacturers will add another extremely lucrative USP to their devices and get one step closer to drive mass-market adoption.

B2C: Passengers in vehicles.

We’ll begin with a focus on gaming and entertainment content which is primarily targeted to teens and tweens. Gen Z, basically.

As we start to build up our content platform, we will expand the user base by targeting a more diverse audience with additional use cases, such as educational or well-being focused content.

Bobby: Let’s talk about the token. What is the tokenomics of your token, and how will you stimulate the users to hold your token in the long run?
Nils: I know you’re curious. Which is great. But at this stage let me share some of the envisioned functionalities instead:

holoride token holders will be able to participate in the governance of the holoride platform and make important decisions about its feature development and strategic content directions.

Platform access: user subscriptions, developer access and brand placements will be purchasable with holoride tokens at a discount from their Fiat price.

Create, sell & buy in-experience items: the holoride marketplace will enable users and content creators to mint unique NFTs based on their experiences in exchange for holoride tokens.

holoride will help to transition to sustainable mobility and plans to establish a “Ride-to-Play-to-Earn”-cycle that incentivizes users for their engagement with holoride experiences.

All subject to change, of course. 😉

We have many ideas of how tokens will be used to make your holoride experience a meaningful and valuable one.

Bobby: Great 👍 Looking forward for these.
Nils: Seeing the pace of innovation in the crypto space, I’m sure the community has many more creative ideas for additional use cases. Looking forward to it!

Bobby: And lastly, please tell the community a bit more about late 2021 plans? Please tell us about your Roadmap and milestones in the future.
Nils: I’ll tell you about the experience that we’re currently showcasing at the IAA Mobility event in Munich this week.

We’re doing holoride demos in the inner city where passengers will jump into an Audi e-tron and put on a VR headset to be given a hyper-immersive ride in a new world.

They become a character flying through the air in a 3rd person VR action game that was developed for us by Schell Games.

We are launching in the first private passenger cars in summer 2022.

About holoride

The German startup holoride creates an entirely new media category for passengers by connecting XR content with data points from the vehicle in real-time. These data points include physical feedback like acceleration and steering, traffic data, as well as travel route and time.

Open to all content creators and car companies, the technology has the power to change backseat entertainment forever; holoride technology significantly reduces motion sickness, opens up a new layer of immersion in games or educational journeys, and creates a stunningly immersive experience.

The tech startup was founded end of 2018 in Munich, Germany by Nils Wollny, Marcus Kuehne, Daniel Profendiner, and Audi, which holds a minority stake in the startup. It was hailed four times “Best of CES” (Las Vegas, Jan 2019) and has been acknowledged as “Best Inventions of 2019” by TIME Magazine. In 2021, holoride went on to win the prestigious SXSW Pitch and was also named Best in Show.
