Palmer Luckey is an inventor, innovator, and entrepreneur. In 2012, Palmer co-founded Oculus VR and is also the creator of the Oculus Rift, a high-quality virtual reality headset display. Oculus VR is widely credited with reviving the virtual reality industry thanks to Palmer’s vision. In 2014, about two years after founding the company, Oculus was acquired by Facebook.

“holoride is far and away the leader for turning time in a passenger seat into time well-spent. It isn’t easy to integrate so many different complex technologies into a product that feels seamless — it takes years of experience, deep knowledge of all the systems involved, and the ability to convince many other companies to set aside their usual competitive nature and collaborate on something that will be best for everyone in the long run.” — Palmer Luckey

Marcus, our co-founder, and Palmer go way back and know each other from the time when Marcus was still working at Audi and implementing the first retail VR application in collaboration with Oculus

Palmer also serves as the founder of Anduril Industries, a defense technology company. At Anduril, Palmer integrates a consumer technology business model and enables rapid product development and deployment.

Palmer will advise holoride on technology and product innovation. We’re proud to have Palmer as our advisor. His deep understanding of how to tackle technological complexity along with the expertise of bringing a consumer product to life and ensuring constant innovation cycles will be of great support to meet our ambitious goals at holoride.

About holoride

The German startup holoride creates an entirely new media category for passengers by connecting XR content with data points from the vehicle in real-time. These data points include physical feedback like acceleration and steering, traffic data, as well as travel route and time.

Open to all content creators and car companies, the technology has the power to change backseat entertainment forever; holoride technology significantly reduces motion sickness, opens up a new layer of immersion in games or educational journeys, and creates a stunningly immersive experience.

The tech startup was founded end of 2018 in Munich, Germany by Nils Wollny, Marcus Kuehne, Daniel Profendiner, and Audi, which holds a minority stake in the startup. It was hailed four times “Best of CES” (Las Vegas, Jan 2019) and has been acknowledged as “Best Inventions of 2019” by TIME Magazine. In 2021, holoride went on to win the prestigious SXSW Pitch and was also named Best in Show.
