Mondays are the hardest days in our household.

Probably because my three-year-old daughter has spent the weekend living it up with both parents able to spend quality time with her. My husband and I work together and take it in turns with our baby and our daughter or we all spend time together and those days are fun.

Monday comes around and my husband is back at work. He’s working from home all the time now, which is great since he doesn’t have daily 4-hour commutes, but it’s still hard.

It’s hard to keep the children quiet during meetings.

It’s hard for our daughter to understand that on some days she has to be quieter than others.

And it’s hard for our daughter to understand that on some days she has to practise more patience because I’m feeding and rocking her baby brother and I can’t plait her hair with one hand.

How I get through

The challenging days are all about survival. They are days for countdowns and plans made in my head. I don’t have high expectations or make big plans on these days because I’d only be setting myself up for disappointment.
