Each week, people around the world take streets of their cities to remind their governments that their voices matter. In this series I want to collect the best images from protests around the world.

TRENDING HASHTAG — #RESIGNCAMERON

BRIEF

When the Prime Minister of Iceland resigned over the Panama papers last week, many thought that David Cameron is going to be next. Thousands have gathered in front of the famous Downing Street Ten on Saturday to make that happen. Here’s what happened.

What’s Happening?

The reality is that British public doesn't fully want David Cameron to resign, but at the same time nobody fully wants him to stay. The problem is that his ‘offshore tax affair’ is a fully legal action. It is, of course, unfair that ordinary taxpayer is paying all that they need to pay to the government, while the top-rich exploit loopholes not to pay. However is the tax avoidance enough reason to depose country’s leader? Icelanders said yes. What would you say?

Protester’s Words:

Please Mind the Gap between the Rich and Poor.

Get the Tories Out!

Resign Cameron, Resign.

FACT SHEET:

In 2011, the David Cameron received £500,000 free of inheritance tax.

Around 3,000 people have demonstrated outside 10 Downing Street on Sunday

More protests are planned for the next weekend (April 16–17)

What People at Protest Say?

“I think, he has to resign. There can’t be one rules for rich and one rules for poor. For years, he was saying that everything needs to be done so companies and officials in Britain should be pay taxes in Britain. Then Panama Papers reveal that he does itself! It’s ridiculous, you cannot fight injustice with unjust leaders. He has to go.”

What Can Happen?

There are more protests scheduled for the next weekend. So far the saga of David Cameron and his second-tax-home is not over. He definitely felt the pressure from public and officials, including his own party members. Whether this will ‘calm down’ or escalate still needs to be seen. Panama files has’t been fully decoded yet, so maybe we will see more revelations?
