Team: Hot Fireman Dips and Safety Tips is off to a raucous start with our first post of an amazing recipe and First aid procedure on Youtube. We have been learning a great deal about video production, social media exploitation, and developing an effective means to transmit important safety messages to the public. In return we have had some excellent feedback from viewers and we hope to create a cult following for our future programs.

Our goal is more than to achieve the maximum number of views. As first responders who have been called to critical incidents and treated similar injuries, we hope to enable our viewers to learn, get involved, and one day provide appropriate first aid themselves. Through this first installment we feel that we have presented an effective safety tip for the public’s treatment of burn related injuries that they or someone else may sustain one day. While some have questioned the nexus of simple first aid treatment to Homeland Security operations, most first responders will confirm how critical the public’s response is to the first few minutes after a catastrophic injury. Through our DIY (Do It Yourself) cooking and First aid program we are engaging the public in an information sharing environment that will enhance their contribution to their community’s safety, (and stomachs.)

This week we have provided you with a provocative video of how to prepare a delicious roasted garlic, white bean dip with baked salami chips. At the conclusion, we identify how to perform a life saving measure for a choking victim. According to Injury Facts 2015, choking is the fourth leading cause of unintentional death. (4,800 people died from choking in 2013.) Although our training video is designed to engage through levity to increase the number of views, choking is no laughing matter. We hope that all of our viewers pay strict attention to this important learning experience as it may save their life or that of another.

We are confident that you will enjoy the video and please try the recipe. As Brooklyn Joe always says, “This is proper!”

Enjoy!
