“Homerland Security Odipsey”: Greek week inspired Eggplant dip and Safety tip.

This week, Hot Fireman Dips and Safety Tips is providing it’s viewers with a Greek themed dip. As Greek Orthodox Christians commemorate Easter this week, this dip will be welcomed at any holiday celebration. Our hero, Fireman Joe reflects back to his days as a youth in Brooklyn when he first enjoyed his childhood friend’s Grandmother’s Melitzanosalata dip. This eggplant based recipe has stuck with Joe all these years and he is here to share it with our viewers.

I give this eggplant dip a “thumbs up!”

Greece is also in the NEWS recently for other reasons. Earlier this week the Olympic flame was ignited in Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympics, and it will make its way to Rio, Brazil for the 2016 Summer Olympics. The Summer Olympics has always been a terrorist threat concern since the 1972 Munich Olympics hostage crisis. The 1996 Atlanta Olympics bombing also resonates domestically. The various international Homeland Security agencies will be working around the clock to ensure the safety of this year’s event.

The Greek have a proud history of defending their property with sharp objects. Fireman Joe display’s King Leonidis-like knife skills in the kitchen this week as he slays several vegetables for this delicious dip. *A word of caution to those of you who may be brave enough to attempt this recipe. Please ensure you practice safe knife handling in following the preparation method.* Fortunately, Joe has included a safety tip at the end of the video that instructs the viewer on response to lacerations, should something bad happen.

What’s proper? That might be a more authentic nod to Socrates — and his philosophic methods — considering we celebrate Greek cuisine this week. But then again Socrates never lived in Brooklyn, and this week’s recipe is as authentic as they get. That’s right. It’s proper. Please visit our youtube site at

“Opah!” Loosely translated to English is “Proper!”
