“We cherish too, the Poppy red

That grows on fields where valor led,

It seems to signal to the skies

That blood of heroes never dies”- Miona Michaels- 1915

D-Day Cemetery, Cambridge, England

This memorial day, Eagle Eggs would like to take a moment and veer from the frivolity and good-natured satire to say a solemn “Thank You” to all those men and women, Soldier, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen who, while in service for this country, have paid the ultimate sacrifice for that which we all enjoy.

Marine SGT Christopher Jacobs’ grave site, Arlington National Cemetery. May 28th, 2012

So while it is traditionally the first day of summer with backyard barbeques and swimming pools opening, let us all take a moment to reflect on the fallen and the families why will not be “having a cold one” with their brother, daughter, aunt or father this weekend.
