Top Ten Firefighter Calendars
Yes, it’s hot.
It’s Memorial Day weekend. It’s finally warm out. Depending where you live, downright scorching already. Let’s face it, we here at 5 ‘n Dime want a break as much as you do. So instead of solving homeland security issues this weekend, we decided to stare at good looking firefighters instead (can I get an AMEN?). That’s completely homeland security-related….
No, really it is. Since 9/11, the fields of emergency management and homeland security have been coalescing, with traditional domestic civil and emergency management functions like law enforcement and the fire service playing increasingly more important roles in the evolving concept of homeland security. These folks are heroes. We’re proud of them.
And my goodness do they look good doing what they do….
So after drooling a bit, we decided you might want to join us in taking a break from the heavy stuff and focus on the hunky, as well. So as you are sitting by the pool with a colorful umbrella drink (you really should have a colorful umbrella drink right now), feel free to peruse these calendars and consider that — beyond being absolutely beautiful inside and out — these folks are incredibly brave for doing what they do, and boundless in their charity and compassion.

1. Houston
Full disclosure: I personally own this calendar, it’s hanging up in my living room right now, and it’s lovely. A friend of mine in the Houston Fire Department gave it to me. These easy-on-the-eyes heroes also support the Houston Fire Fighters Burned Children’s Fund. The fund has raised more than $2 million which provides support, services, and medical items for more than 3,100 pediatric burn survivors. Gorgeous men helping children in need? Perfection.
2. Utah
These Utah firefighters could heat up any cold desert night, but they also warm our hearts by supporting the American Cancer Society. This is an incredibly important cause, particularly for those in the fire service, who suffer far higher incidence of cancer than other occupations. It’s not just the firefighters, either — it affects us all. Watch this video in a previous 5 ‘n Dime post. It’s one of the most compelling pieces we’ve seen on just how much these brave men and women sacrifice for our safety and well-being.
3. America’s Female Firefighters
See? You only had to get to #3. We here at 5 ‘n Dime are certainly equal opportunity (just see our recent LGBT post), so if the ladies are more your style, then this calendar is for you. Featuring courageous and heroic women from all across the United States, sales of this calendar are donated to multiple charities.
4. Fire Rescue Dogs
Firefighters and puppies! Cute overload. Need we say more? Well, maybe just one thing: this gorgeous calendar supports the Lifeline Puppy Rescue in Colorado, which rescues more than 1,200 puppies every year.
5. Firehouse Dolls
In case you thought there was only one female firefighter calendar, think again. This calendar includes firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, and more brave women, and supports numerous firefighter charities.
6. Twin Cities
Two cities, and it’s twice as nice! Gorgeous layout and photos, plus this calendar takes our official top honors for best motto: “Twin Cities Firefighters Wear Less to Help Underserved Children Wear More.” These guys really are my heroes. Swoon.
7. Charleston
More cuteness. Yet another equal opportunity calendar that shows off both brave men and women firefighters, and adorable animals. The calendar helps support the oldest and largest animal rescue organization in the lowcountry, Toby’s Fund, which helps animals that shelters sometimes won’t, or can’t. 8. South Florida
Tall, dark, handsome, and huge hearts. This calendar supports various charities in the south Florida area. You can tell this stud is thinking about the charities right now…as he emerges from a lake…where he was fighting fires...and saving puppies. Hey, who are we to judge? We’re just glad he’s heading in our direction. It makes us feel safer already.
9. Firefighters vs. Autism
The founder of this charity is a firefighter and a father of a boy with autism. His mission is to end wandering-related drownings and childhood deaths in the autism community. 10. Strength of Kansas
Last, but not least, oh the heartland. Farm boys and girls are full of heart, and the firefighters in this calendar are no different. They support the Kansas Firefighter Museum, as well as other charities in the area. This is really America, home of the brave, and we end on this inclusive calendar with gratitude and awe for the courageous men and women of the fire service.
