Guide for getting Interiors done in Bangalore

For most of us getting interiors done is a very costly affair and the most important things that come in are quality of materials and finishing of work done. Lets have a look at these one by one.

Plywood

Lets quickly get to know the important plywood types.

Commercial/MR/IS-303 — Recommended for Wardrobes, Kitchen Middle Units, Lofts, etc

Waterproof/BWP/IS-701 — Best quality of plywood available, waterproof, recommended for damp prone Kitchen Base Units

Water Resistant/BWR/IS-303— Lower price compared to waterproof ply and only partially compliant with IS 701 standards.

Well known Brands:

Greenply, Archidply, CenturyPly, Sonata Gold, Rolex Gold, Metro

Why are square feet rates of carpenters so high in comparison to plywood rates?

Square feet rates are based on surface area only and the depths, partitions, shelves or drawers are not considered to make the quote generation easier.

Total sqft of Plywood required is therefore about 5–6 times of the number calculated by a carpenter

Finishing Options

Two types of outer finish options are mostly used — Laminates and Veneer

Laminates come in matte and glossy finish

Veneers give a wood finish, they are costlier than laminates and need polishing.

Accessories

This includes Hinges, Channels(Runners), Baskets and other accessories for kitchens.

Hinges and Channels types — Soft close/Non-soft Close

Soft close hinges and channels offers ease in daily usage but are about anywhere between 2–6 times more expensive compared to Non-soft close.

Well known brands —

(German)Hafele, Hettich

(Indian)Ebco, CNR/Enox/Sterling

Sounds too complicated? Do consider consulting an interior designer/carpenter who have years of experience with such details and can help you make the right choice.
