17 Liters of Lipedema Fat Removed By Liposuction
This is how I’m feeling.
I’m getting ready for my third lipedema surgery on March 24th with Dr. David Amron. Between surgeries one and two, Dr. Amron has removed over 17 liters of diseased tissue.
That’s practically an entire 18 liter case of water from Costco, by the way:
That’s also pure fat. Sometimes, you might hear surgeons talk about how if they remove 5 liters from a patient through liposuction, only a portion of the stuff they remove will be fat. A lot of it is the tumescent fluid they injected to perform the procedure. And some (maybe even a lot of it) is bloody fluid.
One of the great things about working with Dr. Amron is that his team separates the fluids and documents the amounts of each. They keep track of how much fluid they injected as well. After surgery, they’ll write down the final numbers… this much fatty tissue, this much tumescent fluid, etc. There’s also very little blood removed removed with his methods. So, when he tells you how many liters he removed during surgery, he’s only giving you the amount of fatty tissue.
