Product update 8: Upload your way

It’s been a very busy few months since our last update. We’ve delivered some serious updates new features, and we’ve gone live in all sorts of exciting places. Oh, and we went to Cannes. Did we mention that? Here’s the latest from Honeycomb HQ.

Upload files with our native uploader

Since Honeycomb launched we have been using the industry-standard Signiant to help power the uploading of videos into our system. Signiant is fast and secure — many of our users swear by it — but there were always some clients who needed an alternative. So we’ve built our ‘native uploader’, which uses your browser’s built-in technology, so no extra installations are required. Behind the scenes things are working differently, but if you are uploading files, everything else should work as normal.

The native uploader was launched a few weeks ago as a beta, and is now available to everyone. To access it, click on the ‘Switch to native uploader’ link when you are ready to upload files.

If you need to switch back to Signiant, simply click on the ‘Switch to Signiant uploader’ link.

Your feedback on important features like this is incredibly useful. If you have questions, issues or suggestions, please get in touch.

More subtitling options

Honeycomb has now added AdSub from VSI as a new captioning provider. They join our captioning launch partner ZOO Digital.

How to use captioning:

If you are already a customer of either ZOO Digital or VSI then simply select one of them when you create your order in Honeycomb. If you aren’t already a customer, contact us, and we can help you get set up.

We’re incredibly excited to open up the market in this way.

#Brentrance continues

In world domination news, we’re continuing our unstoppable expansion across Europe. We’ve just launched in Spain, and since our last product update, we’ve gone live in loads of countries: Portugal, Slovakia, Poland, Belgium, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania. These joined the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.

Many more to be added to the empire in 2017… stay tuned!

Really simplified video viewing

It’s now much easier to check videos: you can view them within the video page, rather than having to go to the order page.

It’s a small change, but it’s had a big impact. It’s saving our users lots of time.

Improved item status

We changed the item statuses to make them easier to understand.

Bits and pieces…

  • Better email notifications for uploaders.
  • New support and help pages.
  • Improved searching and filtering of lists.
  • Lots of new unreleased features we can’t tell you about (yet).
  • And as ever, we are constantly working behind the scenes to improve how Honeycomb works — making it faster, easier to roll out new features and generally even better than it already is.

Wait, there’s more!

Cannes

We were at Cannes Lions festival where we met lots of you (hi again!). We hope that all those very serious meetings held aboard our floating boardroom (a world first, surely) have resulted in lots of business deals. Read more about our (mis)adventures in Cannes.

Interesting thoughts

We’ve been thinking a lot recently. Here’s our CSO, Richard Carter on the real value of award ceremonies, and here’s Product Evangelist Ben Smith thoughts on why creatives and techies need to get together.

You can also watch our COO Moritz Wuttke speaking on the future of ad delivery and adtech at the recent Netineo conference.
