Apple Store Macau — A Sight To Behold!
Apple products are synonymous with appealing aesthetics and alluring design. Apple extends its design and aesthetics appeal beyond the circumferential limits of product Industrial design by setting gold standards in retail brick and mortar category. The Apple store concept was introduced by the Legendary Steve Jobs back in 2001.
Apple stores have attracted millions through their flamboyant design and layout. The Apple store in Macau, China is yet another marvel, ubiquitously uplifting Apple Store’s awe-inspiring design.
A Sight To Behold!
When I visited Macau, on the way to The Venetian, the Apple Store modestly stood amidst the tall buildings, demanding attention by its elegant structure.
The moment I entered, I was greeted by a warm Apple staff. He asked if he can help me. I said, I just want to click some pictures. The reply was “oh sure go ahead, it’s a beautiful Apple Store.”
The Design
The store is a portmanteau fusion of bamboo shoots and translucent stone walls. The store is surrounded by dense bamboo shoots from outside and you will be dwarfed by bamboo shoots in the inside.
The Designers — Fosters + Partners
Apple is notoriously known to partner with the finest, be it for advertising to store design. The Macau Apple store was created by Fosters + Partners in collaboration with Jony Ive, Apple’s design chief.
Stephen Behling, head of studio at Fosters + Partners said:
“We wanted to create something very simple and pure — a beautiful and elegant building that complements the sounds, sights and colours of Macau, while embodying a sense of clarity and quietude.”
“The design creates two distinct spaces, one inside and one outside, imbued with a sense of authentic beauty arising from the innovative use of natural materials.”
