【Hong Kong Travel】Island House — A historic monuments on the island.

In the past, the British implemented colonial rule over Hong Kong, so various historical sites related to this period can be seen everywhere in Hong Kong. The place that HongKongFootprint.com will introduce this time is not only a historic building filled with the colors of the past, but also it is an official residence used by the Secretary for the New Territories in the past.

This building is located on Yuen Chau Tsai, Tai Po, New Territories. It was originally an island surrounded by the sea. Since this location is favorable for inspecting the development of Tai Po, New Territories, it was chosen here to build the quarters of the New Territories District Officers, and later renovate it into the official residence of the Secretary for the New Territories.

Construction of the building began in 1905 and was completed in 1906. It is a two-story building. The entire building is mainly built with red bricks, the exterior walls are all stucco veneer, and with open balconies, it has the architectural flavor of the period of the British implemented colonial rule over Hong Kong in the early 20th century.

Location: Island House
Address: Island House Lane, Yuen Chau Tsai, Tai Po, New Territories
