Iranian photographer Seyed Ali Hoseinifar’s captivating portrait of depression titled Baby, I’m Not Good paints a somber story of happiness conflicted with sadness.

Baby, I’m Not Good was taken in Seyed’s house on a late summer day when he was feeling particularly blue; he tells us that the two-tone palette came about rather serendipitously from nature itself.

“On certain days, the setting sun will shine through angular buildings and bring a colourful tint to the windows.”

The photo below shows an earlier shot taken before sunset and perfectly captures the fleeting nature of Seyed’s final blue and yellow-tinged composition.

The image was taken with a tripod-mounted Nikon D800 and Nikkor 24–120 f/4 lens at focal length 34mm, f/7.1, ISO 100, and 1.3 s with no flash.

Seyed is a documentary photographer with several photo exhibitions under his belt, he now teaches at photography and training workshops. You can follow Seyed on Instagram here to see his captivating portraits on the streets of Iran.
