Matthew Cohen

Matthew Cohen met Ora the summer after his first year of law school when he clerked at the Disability Rights Project at LAF. Ora was one of the crusading attorneys battling for disability rights.

How would you describe Ora?
Ora is a great fighter, cared about people and did not suffer injustice, but tempered all that with a wonderful sense of whimsy and humor.

What is your favorite memory of Ora?
I just remember great enthusiasm and energy at moments of actual success, or anticipation of a strategy yet to be implemented, but a sense that,
“We’re going to get them.”

How has Ora impacted your life?
Ora was an integral part of an amazing group of civil rights lawyers that helped to shape and launch my career in disability rights law.
