What separates the exceptional from the average?

Why do some people seem to perform with effortless mastery while others struggle to improve? It’s easy to assume talent is an innate gift, that it’s something you either have or you don’t. But the truth is, talent is something you build, not something you’re born with.

Developing talent is an art and a science.

It requires intentional practice, the right mindset, and a willingness to push beyond one's comfort zone. While amateurs and experts both spend an inordinate amount of time practicing, if you look closely, you’ll notice differences in how they practice.

Experts look like they’re struggling. They are mired in blood, sweat, and tears. Amateurs look like they’re having fun.

The process of talent development and mastery is not purely enjoyable. It hurts, and it reveals the most vulnerable parts of us. But these small, deliberate changes in how you approach skill development can create massive improvements over time.
