You must have seen people crying while watching an emotional movie scene, or feel excited when the character does something heroic.

Because they show a strong emotional attachment to the character. They feel happiness, sadness, excitement, and boredom or, any other feelings the character experiences.

I’ve personally witnessed writers crying when they write about something painful. Writers who truly inhabit a character, can live many lives.

Writing is an interesting yet difficult process. In order to develop an engaging piece of writing, you’ve got to immerse yourself in the character you write about.

Developing a mental state where you’re the character, and you write every word by putting yourself in the spotlight.

Add an emotional touch to your stories where you cry by explaining the pain your character goes through. You feel excited when you write something interesting.

You feel motivated when you write about someone’s achievements. You feel the same way as your character when you write a love story.

You love, you laugh, and you cry side by side with your character. You immerse yourself so deeply in the character that you forget everything else, and consider it a whole different realm.

“No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. No surprise in the writer, no surprise in the reader.” — Robert Frost

Your story/piece of writing is effective when you write in your own style. Following your instinct and writing with your natural style makes your content unique.

Being genuine has no substitute. Authenticity makes your content stand out. Your piece of writing/story should be a reflection of your true self.

Using difficult words/jargons may affect the readability of your content. Write simple and easy to read words and sentences.

Use appropriate words and phrases that correlate with the needs and demands of your readers.

Excessive use of technical words and jargons makes your reader feel uncomfortable.

Putting yourself in your readers’ shoes will help you understand the needs and demands of your readers.

The best way is to keep it simple and smart.

Ending note:

  • Being a lifelong learner, I always find it exciting to share with others what I learn. The process of learning and sharing never stops.
  • Writing with empathy helps you understand the needs of your audience. When you write by putting yourself in your audience’s shoes, your message brings you the required results.
  • Give yourself a second and imagine what kind of content you would enjoy reading? If your answer is simple, clear and easy to read, then draft your story likewise.

“What is written without effort is in general read without pleasure” — Samuel Johnson

Thank you for reading! I hope it helps; if so, don’t leave without clapping. Please leave a comment if you want to say anything. I would love to know. Pressing the follow button would be great encouragement.
