What Makes It Worthwhile To Be an Editor in a Medium Publication?

Thanks to Steve Middle for your kind words about ‘Hooked on Books’

Welcome to my publication, Hooked on Books 💙📚

I started the publication because I wanted a home for bookish stories on Medium. I intended to create a place where like-minded book lovers can contribute with the bookish stories they enjoy writing and reading. A publication for and by readers.

I’m grateful and satisfied with the publication we have managed to achieve.

With the motto

“I read books because I love them, not because I think I should read them.”
― Simon Van Booy

we have room for a great diversity of bookish stories (as long as the pictures are credited and it’s not riddled with typos).

However, there is no getting away from the fact that I occasionally wonder why I spend such a large part of my scarce free time running a publication on Medium alone.

I feel the pressure to publish quickly (because everyone understandably wants their story published ASAP), avoid making (big) mistakes, and be a good enough editor.

So, what makes it worthwhile to be an editor in a Medium…
