Meeting other professionals per chance.
My time as a New Media undergraduate is near an end, so I have been out on the road — or maybe in a bar — looking to meet other professionals in my field — Videography.
Connections are everywhere! Look around you. See anything? No, then look on your phone and Google what you’re looking for. Find it? Good. I like the Web approach to connect. An About.me, or a LinkedIn account work great, but good ole’ boots on the ground interpersonal communication is my savy.
Initiate questioning.
I was in a bar having a craft brew in Milledgeville, Ga. when I overheard a woman talking about her job working as a videographer — granted I caught on to some of the vernacular because I am also working in the field.
I had the pleasure of speaking with a Ms. Kate, she was hesitant it seemed, but still very social, and after I bought us a round she handed me her business card. Believe it or not, those atoms still serve a purpose.
