To say the least, crafting Terms of Service(TOS), Privacy Policy and most recently GDPR data protection policy is a daunting task.

You will need a lawyer, or lawyers depending on where your customers reside. Needless to say that hiring corporate lawyers is not in reach of every single business. So what else can you do before you are able to afford a lawyer, or worse — sued?

This blog is a part of “The Productive Solopreneur”, a series of articles about tools that help Solopreneurs to stay sane and productive. If you are more into technical stuff, read “AppEconomy” series instead.

Before It shuts down, Docracy used to serve as a collection of free legal documents. Some alternatives are online services, some are run by law firms, and charge a small fee to generate custom of some of commonly used legal documents. Few are following services:

  • TermsFeed — Provides both free and premium agreements. Premium agreements requires one-time payment fee. One of their direct competition is Iubenda. You may shop between those two services and pick whatever better suits your needs.
  • SnapTerms — From $400 up to $800+, You can get a custom TOS that can be delivered from 3 to 14 days, depending on complexity of your business.
  • LawTrades — Is more of a Lawyer on demand. The business model is not that different from Crew, but instead of tech freelancers, you have various lawyers, most of them in corporate arena. So you will be doing business with humans. Clerky may be a competition to this one.

Even though these documents(TOS, PP, GDPR Compliance, etc) are not law of the land, they scope what company liabilities are, and state responsibilities of the customer versus your responsibilities as an entrepreneur.
