What to expect when interviewing for a Commercial Account Executive role
Let’s face it, applying for jobs can be stressful. As a candidate, you probably have a million thoughts about your application, the interview process, and the jobs you’re applying for.
To help alleviate some of your concerns, here’s an inside look into our Commercial Account Executive interview process — and a few tips we hope you’ll find useful.
So let’s jump in. You’ve applied, now what? (If you haven’t applied, find our open roles here.)
Step 1: The recruiter interview
If the hiring team was impressed with your application, this is the first step in our interview process. We want you to take us through your resume, answer technical questions around your sales experience, and tell us about your interest in working at Hootsuite. Hint: Think about how your experience relates to our four company values.
Step 2: The in-person interview with hiring manager(s)
You impressed our recruiter in step one and now they’ve invited you to meet with the hiring manager(s). How will you impress them?
Dive into your roles and sales experience. What does your day-to-day work life look like? How do you approach your territory or leads list? What are some tools you use? Tell us about the deals you’ve closed and talk about how you’re measured and your attainment to plan.
Step 3: The in-person interview with a senior sales leader
Step two went well and our hiring managers want you to meet one of our senior sales leaders. This is usually our final round of interviews. What does it entail?
You will be asked to prepare a sales presentation before coming to this interview. In addition to this, expect to provide a high-level overview of your sales background. This is also your final chance as a candidate to ask any questions and evaluate whether this opportunity is a fit for you.
That’s our interview process! Successful candidates can expect to hear back within one week of their final interview. The overall process usually takes 2–3 weeks from the recruiter interview.
