Auli, Uttarakhand
After spending a lot of time on international locations, we’ve come back to our homeland… India. We will see a few budget-friendly yet amazing places in India in our next few posts. Stay tuned and get to know more about these places & enjoy much needed vacations in our very own motherland. We will start with a beautiful place in Uttarakhand, named as Auli. This place is well-known as the skiing destination of India. There are lots of places and things to do in Auli. Let’s see how and what it is.
Gurso Bugyal
Perched at an elevation of 3,056m above sea level Gurson Bugyal is a picturesque location. From here you can view imposing Himalayas like Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Dron. You have to trek 3 kms from Auli to this scenic location.
There is a Hanuman Temple here which is the place where Hanuman took some rest when he had come to the Himalayas to procure Sanjivani to rescue Laxman. You can also enjoy a cable car ride which gives a beautiful view of the surroundings. Also, there is an artificial lake which is the world’s highest man-made lake.
Trishul Peak
The three Himalayan mountain peaks of western Kumaun as a whole form the Trishul peak. With a height of 7120m, this peak encloses the Nanda Devi Sanctuary on its southwest corner.
Chenab Lake
Chenab Lake is worth a visit for the calm and serene atmosphere that it offers. This atmosphere holds the sights of tourists and makes it an enchanting spot.
Joshimath
Joshimath is a hill town in the lap of the snow-capped Himalayas in the state of Uttarakhand. This valley is beautifully surrounded on all sides by picturesque views. This place also serves as a significant religious center for Hindu pilgrims. It lies in the proximity to one of the four ‘maths’ — “Badrinath”.
Rudra Prayag and Nandprayag
Rudraprayag is one of the “Panch Prayags”. It received its name from the Hindu deity Lord Shiva who is said to have appeared at the place in the form of Lord Rudra. It has natural dazzling beauty and spellbinding landscapes. Rudraprayag has several ancient temples. It also serves as a gateway to two major pilgrimages of Kedarnath and Badrinath. Next from the panch prayags is Nandaprayag. The two rivers River Alaknanda and Nandakini meet here. It is a place of spirituality and devotion as well as beautiful landscapes. Nandaprayag is at an altitude of 900 meters. It is surrounded by wonderful mountains and beautiful sceneries.
