After visiting most of the cities of Spain, here comes the beautiful Barcelona city. Barcelona is one of the world’s leading tourist, economic, trade fair and cultural centers. Its influence in commerce, education, entertainment, fashion all contributes to its status as one of the world’s major global cities. Barcelona is a colorful city and a transport hub. The Port of Barcelona is one of Europe’s principal seaports and busiest European passenger port. It has an international airport, Barcelona–El Prat Airport, which handles over 40 million passengers per year. Also an extensive motorway network, and a high-speed rail line with a link to France and the rest of Europe.

Being so easy to visit here, let’s see where and what in Barcelona.

SAGRADA FAMILIA

It is the most famous church in Barcelona. Currently under restoration, but the entry for visitors is still open. The facades depict very beautiful sculptures calling for 18 spires representing the Twelve Apostles, the Virgin Mary, the four Evangelists, and Jesus Christ. The church rises to 172.5 meters above street level. The interior looks beautiful as lights come in different colors through the stained glass of the facades. All the colors form a rainbow-like display. You can buy the tickets at the counter or online.

Casa Batllo

The famous architect of Barcelona Antoni Gaudi’s designed this most creative house. The house is unique as it has no straight line. It is UNESCO World Heritage site. It is a twister of waves and curves. The exterior has mosaics made from ceramic tile shards. These shards come from broken cups and plates from a nearby factory. The balconies depict the shape of masks and bats. The roof is like a back of a dragon or dinosaur. It’s hard to describe the house completely as it has a variety of structures and walls. It is surely a must see place on our Barcelona trip list.

Park Guell

Upon a rocky hill, this is a spectacular urban park in the world. It was a dream project of a wealthy industrialist Eusebi Guell. He wished to build around 60 luxurious homes in these space far away from city factories. But when the show house went unsold, they further stopped the construction. Now stands a wonderful park on this 17-hectare land. The architect Gaudi had a house here which is now Gaudi Museum. This place is also a world heritage site by UNESCO.

Gothic Quarter

It is the heart of the old city. It is the place for lots of things. You can see the Barcelona Cathedral, Barcelona history museum, Sardana — a Catalan folk dance. It also has a range of bars and restaurants.

Camp Nou stadium

It a football stadium and a museum as well. You can see the dressing room, massage tables, Jacuzzi. Also, you can view the blackboard where coaches have drawn up plays for famous football players of Spain. You can see the trophies and a ton of memorabilia and equipment spanning 100+ years of history in the museum.

BARCELONETA

This beach in Barcelona is right on the Mediterranean sea. Exciting nightlife, surfing, and classical seafood restaurants make these place a must visit one. Here you have an option of sunbath after a deep drive in the sea.
