Granada is one of the most beautiful cities of Spain. The next city in our tour list. Granada, is a spectacular city with breath taking views. One of the happening place of Spain. Not spending much of your time let’s see the details of the city.
GRANADA CATHEDRAL
This is the first place to visit, as it is near to airbnb. It is a grand place. The white contrast are a bit of a contrast to the ornate churches seen in other cities of Spain. You have to buy entry ticket. You will get an audio guide for the place.
CALLE CALDERERIA NUEVA
It’s a narrow market street where u will get all souvenir. Also u can buy leather products over here. You will get glass lamps, woolen shoes, colorful scarfs & pashmina shawls. You can enjoy various types of tea to warm up in these chill climate at tea houses on these street.
MIRADOR DE SAN NICOLAS
You have to climb up a small hill in Albayzin to reach these place. You can see the best views of The Alhambra from this lookout point. Best time to visit here is by sunrise or by sunset. You can see beautiful snow-capped mountains off in the background.
HILL IN ALBAICIN
Albaicin is an oldest centre of Muslim culture in Granada. The neighborhood is a maze of narrow cobbled streets. You will find white houses with tiled roofs. Houses have small courtyards sprinkled in between.
The Alhambra
It is a massive complex of palaces, gardens & fortresses . It once formed the citadel of the Nasrid kingdom of Granada. Nasrid dynasty was the last Arab muslim dynasty in Iberia, ruling Granada until 1492. Alhambra is a can’t miss tourist attraction of Granada. You need to book ticket in advance as it can sell out in high season. You can visit various places within these complex:
• Generalife
This is a summer palace of Nasrid rulers and also their country estate. Beautiful gardens surrounds this palace. By now the delicate sculptures and guilloches have been obliterated and engulfed.
• Palace of Charles V
This palace is located on top of hill of the Assabica inside Alhambra. The building stood roofless until 1957. No monarch has resided in this palace till date.
• Court of the Lions
This is situated in the heart of Alhambra. It is main courtyard of the Nasrid palace of the lions. The site is now part of the UNESCO world heritage list. The courtyard has a beautiful fountain in the middle space.
CARRERA DEL DARRO
It is a small lane that runs along the Darro River. This lane is at the base of Alhambra. This street is lined with arched stone bridges & historic buildings. It is a place of different era & peaceful in early morning.
FLAMENCO SHOW
Flamenco dance is a expressive dance form of Spain. The flamenco is a solo dance characterized by hand clapping, percussive footwork and intricate hand, arm & body movements.
