Spain is one of my favorite countries for food. You will find amazingly tasty dishes no matter where you are in Spain. Each region in Spain adds a different twist to their food. This makes traveling around Spain a great treat for food lovers. Below, you’ll find our list of the foods you must try when in Valencia.

Paella Valenciana

You can find Paella all over Spain, but it originates in Valencia. This makes it a required dish to try when in Valencia. There are many different varieties of paella you can order. It contains only chicken and rabbit, no seafood. It also has a local white bean called garrafo, and some vegetables. Remember that you (almost) always have to order paella for at least 2 people. The dish is rather large.

Fideuà

Fideuà is paella but made with noodles. This dish is for people who want to taste paella but hate rice. Fideua is kind of noodles that they use. When added to seafood and baked to perfection, they meld perfectly together to form a very tasty dish.

Agua de Valencia

One of the most popular drink in Valencia is Agua de Valencia. A bartender made this drink for a bunch of travelers who wanted to try something new. The bartender created the drink on the spot for them, and they loved it. You can find Agua de Valencia on every menu in town. The typical ingredients are orange juice, Cava, vodka, and gin.

Horchata and Fartons

PC: Horchata

This is a Mexican drink. But, you can try it’s Spanish version in “Mercat Central de València”. The difference is in the way it’s made. In Mexico, they make it with rice, while in Valencia they make it with tiger nuts. In Valencia, Horchata is accompanied with a tiny loaf of bread called a farton. The bread is light and fluffy and has a bit of icing or powdered sugar on the top to make it a bit sweet.

Broad Beans and Gravy

Its broad beans in gravy. Broad beans, or fava beans, are a typical Spanish food. They are served in a gravy also with ham or chorizo. You will find these at a few restaurants in Valencia but it’s a must try dish.

Churros and Bunyols with Chocolate

PC: Chocolate con churros and purros

This is a street food you will find anywhere outside of Valencia also. You can buy churros by the half or full dozen and make sure you get a small cup of chocolate to dip them in. Bunyols are same as donuts or fritters. They are either dipped in chocolate or sprinkled with sugar.

You can see there are many food options to try in Valencia. So just pick one and order whatever you like. Also, there are bars in the city. That’s how you will discover the best foods in Valencia.
