There are 21 million college students in America today and over 300,000 college students across the Phoenix Valley. And for a lot of those students, it’s move in weekend. For us as a ministry, it’s Mission 72.

Mission 72 is Hope’s strategy to connect with incoming freshmen students during the Battle to Belong, inviting them to belong to our community through relationship and events.

First, we build relationships — a lot of them. Yesterday we met students from the ASU downtown campus, and today we’ll be meeting students from the ASU Tempe and West campuses. Here is just one story from yesterday:

“While we were passing out waters and Gatorade, I met a student who was looking to get connected to a ministry while at ASU. At his church back home, he had served on the worship team. His role was specifically to rap for songs, just like me. You bet we hit it off! He is planning on visiting Hope on Sunday now.” — Ted

To help create a welcoming and fun-loving atmosphere (even in the midst of 100 degree weather) our team also offered to take photos of students with their families during move in, as seen below.
