“Is there something wrong with me?”
Sue sits across the room, arms folded, furrowed brow. She stares out the window and lets out a sigh.
Puzzled, I ask her, “What’s up?”
Sue glances my way, then back outdoors. Takes a deep breath and begins.
“This friend I’ve had for the longest time has suddenly gone all spiritual. That’s fine, to each their own, I guess. But, if I question her, the least little bit, she comes out with the strangest things!
“Last week, she told me the reason I don’t understand is because I am at a lower level of development; therefore, the greater rewards of enlightenment are not available to me. I was so hurt; I didn’t know what to say. Not spiritual enough? What does that even mean?
“We have been through so much together. I want to be supportive of her, but... honestly, I just don’t get it!”
I take a deep breath and blow it out loudly. “Wow. That’s an interesting thing to say. What makes her feel like the expert?” I ask.
