My Favorite New Sari Was Ruined
What happened next?
I bought a sari with beautiful fine embroidery and wore it to a lunch that I was invited to. All my friends complimented me on the color, the embroidery, and the fine fabric.
This was a new weave and fabric that had come from Bangla Desh. There was an exhibition in Delhi and I liked it very much. I bought it on the spur of the moment without thinking how delicate the fabric was.
When I wore it, I enjoyed the vibes and it suited me perfectly. It became my favorite sari. I enjoyed wearing it.
To my astonishment, many people at the large restaurant who were not part of our group asked me where I bought it from.
When I told them about the exhibition they asked me more questions as to which exhibition, venue and date. Was it advertised? I told them it was widely advertised and they would see the hoardings and in the newspaper if it was held again.
I became quite a star that day. Some of my friends even told me whether in jest or seriously that they would like to borrow it for an occasion and also asked permission if I would allow them to wear it just once.
I am quite giving and I told them I would not mind their wearing it. They just had to ask me if I could even give it away. I have in the past given away…
