Time Doesn’t Heal Everything

But acceptance does

It is often said that time heals all wounds, but does it really? Unfortunately, there are some things in life that won’t get better with the passage of time.

Chronic illnesses, terminal diseases and permanent disabilities are some of the conditions that will not improve regardless of how much time has passed.

When we say that time heals everything, essentially this implies that our happiness is put on hold until our situation improves.

What if it doesn’t?

What if it worsens instead?

Are we then forced to live in a state of unhappiness indefinitely?

We would live in misery, waiting for the day that we are completely healed (by time), but unfortunately that day may never arrive.

It is good to hope for a better future, but we should also be realistic about it. For me, when something bad happens, I don’t necessarily believe that time will heal.

Only our acceptance of the situation does.

When you accept your current situation, it doesn’t mean that you’ve lost hope for the future. It just means that you’ll be okay with whatever the final outcome might be.
